SET DANCING NEWS

A number of Summer Set Dance Ceilis will take place over the Summer months. Hosted by the Sandpit and Teach Raithneach Set Dancers, the first Ceili is in Teach Raithneach on Thursday 31st May, starting at 9.00 pm. Termonfeckin Ceili Band, Triskell will provide the music. Meanwhile, the Set Dancers of Sandpit and Teach Raithneach were in Ballinagar, Co. Offaly last Wednesday night, 16th May for a ‘Sets Dance Off’ against their Ballinagar counterparts. This could only be described as the Set Dancing equivalent of Strictly Come Dancing. The local travelling party held their own against the Ballinagar natives, coming away with Cups, Bags of Turf and an array of other prizes to many to mention. Most of all, many fond memories and friendships were forged. A great nights entertainment and fun was enjoyed by all in Ballinagar last Wednesday night. Mile buiochas to our hosts, the Set Dancing Class from Ballinagar. A re-match is a certainty. Closer to home, two Sandpit Set Dancing Teams participated in The Co. Louth Fleadh Ceoil held in Dundalk recently, emerging successful, they now go forward to participate in The Leinster Fleadh Ceoil in Carlow in July. The two teams, an over 18 all female set, and an over 35 mixed set were ‘ar feabhas ar fad’. Congratulation to all involved.
