MISS Noeleen O’Callaghan, Ballymaken­ny, Drogheda, was in celebratio­n mood 50 years ago this month.

She was selected to compete in the finals of the National Dairy Queen competitio­n in the Shelbourne Hotel .

Aged 18, she was an office clerk by occupation and among her hobbies were Macra na Feirme activities, badminton, swimming, reading, dancing find music.

As a “Dairy Princess “Noeleen qualified for an award of £25. The ultimatae winner, Ireland’s 1968 Dniry Queen was to receive a further £100 and a complete wardrobe of clothes.
