MEMBERS of the Drogheda Emerging Talent soccer programme celebrated stunning success last week as medals were handed out to their Leinster champions at an end of season ceremony in the Glenside.

Both the under 12s and 13s finished the season as Leinster Plate champions and went on to contest All Ireland semi-finals.

The 12s were beaten by WWEC, the Waterford/Cork combination while the under 13s put up a stirring show in their semi, 3-0 down at half-time, they brought it back to 3-2, then 4-2 and 4-3 and conceded the killer fifth late on.

The coaches were delighted with the efforts of the teams this season. The under 11s also did well.

The Kennedy Cup squad is also working towards their big event in June and have scored notable wins against Dundalk, Cavan/Monaghan and Longford.

Mark Costigan from the ETP says the efforts put in are amazing. ‘Massive thanks to all the sponsors supporters and coaching staff,’ he stated.

The crew also held a charity 7 a side soccer event last week to coincide with the awards, helping to fundraise for the charity Jigsaw.
