No funding for Gate

-

Disappointment that funding hasn’t been allocated for works to St Lauerence’s Gate was voiced at the monthly meeting of Louth County Council.

While €25,000 funding for Featherbed Lane was welcomed, Cllr Oliver Tully noted that the two places were beside each other, with Featherbed Lane leading off St Laurence’s Gate.

Chief Executive Ms Joan Martin assured councillors that they avail of every opportunity to apply for funding under the Walled Towns programme but there were a lot of walled towns in Ireland and only a limited about of funds. The Heritage Officer applies every year.
