St Anthony’s novena takes place in St Peter’s church

St Anthony’s Novena takes place from Tuesday June 5th to Wednesday June 13 at St Peter’s Church. Preacher is Fr Liam McCarthy OFM, Killarney Friary.

Masses at 10.30am and 7.30pm daily expect Saturday, 9th, 10.30am and 6.15pm. Sunday June 10 - Mass at 11am, Holy Hour 7.30pm.

Wednesday June 13 - Blessing of lillies at both masses, blessing of children at 4pm and closing mass at 7.30pm.

All are welcome to attend.

Pilgrim Walk

The St Oliver’s Pilgrim Walk, organised by the Knights of St Columbanus, will take place on Friday and Saturday, June 29th and 30th.

Widows meeting

THE Drogheda branch of the National Widows Associatio­n will hold their monthly meeting in the Barbican Centre on Thursday May 31, commencing at 3.30pm.

The next meeting will be held at the end of August and as usual, new members are welcome.

Dromin cycle fundraiser

Dromin Fundraiser Cycle in aid of Ardee Hospice Homecare will be held on June 30th.

If you would like to do the cycle you can register on the morning of the cycle from 8:30 am. Bbq and music that night in The Village Saloon

Ras na Ri

Fun Run, Jog or Walk in aid of Knockcommo­n NS - followed by refreshmen­ts - on June 17th next. The Rás na Rí 6k starts at 2pm from the school.

Candlelit summer solstice

A candlelit summer solstice soiree in the unique and beautiful surrounds of Boyne Brewhouse and Boann Distillery takes place on June 21 from 8pm as part of the Boyne Valley Food Series 2018.

A special menu by Eastern Seaboard Bar & Grill inspired by locally sourced, artisan produce, foraged delights & organic elements in this memorable food story. Enjoy delicious craft beer, and cider, classic cocktails and whiskey, candleligh­t and flaming torches as the sun sets on the longest day of the year.

Albion Rovers camp

Albion Rovers FC is hosting an FAI Summer Soccer Schools again this year from 9-13 July with a mainstream and Goalkeeper­s Camp.

Places on the Camp are limited and the Goalkeeper­s Section will only run if enough children sign up. Once places are filled they’re gone so please avoid disappoint­ment & book early.

St Joseph’s Young Priests meeting

THE Monthly meeting of the St Joseph’s Young Priests Society will be held in the Community Services Centre in Scarlet Crescent on Thursday May 31 at 7.30pm.

Duleek fair

Duleek Fair Weekend takes place from Friday June 29th to Sunday July 1st, with fun, entertainm­ent and activities for people of all ages.

John Lowe in town for exhibition

Three times World Darts Champion , John Lowe, will be taking on 20 local players, in Nolan’s, Chord Road, on Saturday June 16th in a fundraiser for the Drogheda Fishermen’s Rescue and Recovery Service.

Lowe is one of only six players to have won the World Championsh­ip three times, having done so in 1979, 1987 and 1993. He is the first player to have won the World Championsh­ip in three separate decades. Lowe’s titles and achievemen­ts span a career of almost forty years, but he is also well known for being the first player to achieve a televised nine-dart finish (in 1984).

He achieved the ultimate feat in darts on 13 October 1984 during the World Matchplay tournament against Keith Deller, when he managed a nine-dart finish .

This was the first time it had ever been accomplish­ed by any darts player whilst being televised. Lowe won £102,000 for this success. He went on to win the tournament.
