Superb show by Drogheda club at club championships
THE national photographic club championships were held last weekend in Mullingar where 25 photography clubs competed against each other by presenting each club’s 20 best images. The event was judged by international judges from Wales, England and Denmark.
Each club entry consisted of 10 colour and 10 monochrome photographs all assessed by the 3 judges. The world club champions Catchlight Photography Club from Belfast, who recently beat all top photography clubs from over 40 competing countries in the photography world club championships, were red hot favourites and true to form ran out deserving winners.
Drogheda won the bronze medal in the colour section, the bronze medal in the monochrome section and also the 3rd best club overall. This was a great result for the club confirming the members among the elite photographers in Ireland. Representing Drogheda were John Butler, Vadim Lee, Judy Boyle, Des Clinton, Eric O Neill, Joe Curtis, Gabriel O Shaughnessey and Pat Burke.
For the summer months the club continues to meet in the clubrooms in Millmount Square on every Tuesday starting at 8pm with the emphasis on demonstrating the use of photoshop to process and enhance photographs. Members of the public are welcome.
Normal meeting resume in September and membership is open to the public.
