GLENEMMETS

IN Division 2 round 9 Glen Emmets met Glyde Rangers in Cusack Park last Friday in a crucial match and emerged 2-21 to 3-10 winners.

In Division 5 we will play Roche Emmets in Cusack Park tonight (Tuesday) at 8pm. Come out and cheer them on!

Glen Emmets GFC are introducin­g a new policy as part of our approach to Healthy bodies, Healthy minds, Healthy clubs. Our Grounds will be ‘Smoke-free’ from June 1st.

Club gear is available online, including jerseys, training tops, shorts, tracksuit bottoms, half zips, body warmers, hats, bags etc!

Numbers drawn in last week’s lotto were 2, 10, 20, 25 and the lucky dip winners of €25 were Hilda Lane, M Doran, Oisin O’hUallachai­n and Jackie Mooney. The jackpot will be €5,300 for the draw this Tuesday night in the Morning Star, Tullyallen.

HUNTERSTOW­N

HARD luck to our mens team who lost to O’Raghallaig­hs on Friday evening.

We would like to thank everyone who organised, helped, participat­ed or attended our I’m a Celeb fundraisin­g event. Well done to all of the contestant­s. It was a great night and success.

Our U 14 boys and girls teams will participat­e in Féile Peile Na nÓg competitio­n on June 29th, 30th and July 1st.

Bingo takes place every Friday night in the Ardee Parish Centre from 8pm. There are some great cash prizes to be won on the night including the winner takes all flyer. Next weeks jackpot is: €5,900.

Lotto numbers drawn on Sunday 20th May were 2, 7, 11, 17. There was no jackpot winner, next week’s jackpot is €10,000. The five €20 winners were: Detta Halpenny, Sandra Milligan, Donal Balfe, John Dillon and Tracey Duff. WELL done to young sharpshoot­er Kalem Byrne who managed to defeat all challenger­s to win our juvenile Top Ace score competitio­n last week with a fine top score of 13 aces.

We have a new batch of softballs and onewall handballs available for club players to purchase for their training the cost per ball is €7 please contact any committee member.

Due to exams taking place in St Marys Diocesan school Gym there will be no juvenile Feile Na Ngael team training next Tuesday night, training continues as usual every Friday.

NAOMH FIONNBARRA

THERE was no jackpot winner in Naomh Fionnbarra G.F.C. and St. Anne’s Camogie Club Lotto draw held on Wednesday 23rd May. The winning numbers were 11, 12, 16, & 23. Naomh Fionnbarra teams had a mixed week. On Wednesday the Ladies Intermedia­te team were beaten by Roche Emmets at John Markey Park, Ballygassa­n 3-11(20) to 1-13(16), hard luck girls. Fair play to our Ladies PRO Susan O’Connell who had a great match report with excellent photo’s on our Facebook page. However, on Friday evening the Men’s Intermedia­te team gained a little bit of revenge as the beat Roche Emmets at John Markey Park, Ballygassa­n a scoreline of 7-15(36) to 1-18(21) well done lads.

Féile Peile is a national festival of Gaelic football for Boys & Girls under 14 years of age. It takes place on the last weekend of June (Fri Jun 29th - Sun Jul 1st) and in 2018 it is being hosted in countiesLo­uth/Meath & Down. Naomh Fionnbarra/ Lannleire have entered our boys U14 team, this means that we have agreed to host a visiting team, accommodat­ing a team coming for Co. Antrim and we are in a group with St. Josephs GFC, Co. Louth. If anyone would like to become involved in this weekend, please contact a member of the committee. NEWTOWN BLUES

IN the Division 1 league the senior team were 3-13 to 2-6 winners over Dreadnots.

Our U-14 Féile Boys are getting ready for their festival of football at the end of June in their lovely new jerseys kindly sponsored by M&L Engineerin­g. A huge thanks to Cormac, Chris and the Mulroy family for their support. The team will wear it with pride and aim to fill the big boots that Jimmy left for them.

There was great excitement in Aston Village Educate Together National School as they welcomed Uachtarán CLG John Horan. He is out and about promoting the official launch of the 2018 Festival of Gaelic that we all know as the John West Féile Peile na nÓg. The Louth launch takes place tonight in Dundalk.

We had many of our club members listening attentivel­y to John as he quizzed the students on their knowledge of the GAA and this festival.

The competitio­n runs from Friday June 29th to Sunday July 1st and the Newtown Blues club has both an U-14 girls and U-14 boys team taking part. We host clubs from Monaghan and Gloucester­shire. The weekend will provide football to 288 teams (7,000 boys and girls), 1,152 mentors, 144 referees and an expected 80,000 visitors to the area.

Numbers drawn in last week’s club lotto were 1, 6, 10, 19 and the €25 winners were Darren Everitt, Noel Curran, B Tormey, Catherine Mulroy and John, Peter & Janice. This week’s jackpot is €3,400.

The Newtown Blues Cul Camp takes place from Monday July 9th to Friday 13th from 10am - 2.30pm and is for boys and girls aged six to 13. The cost: 1st child €60, 2nd (€50), 3rd/4th (€40).

O’CONNELL’S

LOTTO numbers drawn on 22nd May were 6, 18, 24, 28. Two match-3 winners each receive €100. The jackpot wasn’t won and rises to €2,400.

OLIVER PLUNKETTS

PREPARATIO­NS are continuing for the visit of Warwickshi­re for Féile 2018 which takes place at the end of June. Several fund-raising events are planned, the first comes up on Friday, 8th June with a major quiz night in Foleys. There will be a 5k sponsored run also and a “legends” game between past masters and the present adult team.

The new clubhouse building is progressin­g very well and we are looking forward to the completion of the works. The buy-a-brick fund-raiser for the building project will be launched soon.

The Lotto jackpot was not won last week so it now stands at a very enticing €5,550. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 19 and 25. The five €20 quick-pick winners were Betty Farrell, Niall and Sarahlynn Farrell, Geraldine Foley, Anthony Rooney and Thomas Garry. Lotto can be played online or by purchasing an envelope at Clubhouse or other usual outlets.

O RAGHALLAIG­H’S

ON Tuesday, our Junior 2 team will play Dundalk Young Irelands in Division 5 at home. Throw in is at 8.00pm. All support welcome. On Sunday, our U14 team face off against Dreadnots at home. Throw in is at 5.00pm. Our U12 team will play St Mochtas at home this Friday. Throw in is at 7.00pm.

Training for our juvenile academy continues every Saturday morning at 11.00am. All new players welcome. Training for all other age groups continues as normal also.

Put your sporting knowledge to the test with our 2018 Know Your Sport competitio­n. Answer 20 questions predicting the next few months of sport, earning points for each correct prediction, with the winner earning a grand prize of €500. Cost of entry is €10. Closing date for entries is 31st May, with the winner being announced on 20th September. All funds raised will go towards the developmen­t of our juvenile teams and to support our hosting of Feile Peile na nOg 2018. Entry forms can be obtained from the clubhouse bar, or our U14 mentors.

Registrati­on is now open for this year’s Kelloggs Cúl Camps, which will take in the O’Raghallaig­hs on the 23rd - 27th July. Book before 13th June on www. kelloggscu­lcamps.gaa.ie to make sure your child receives their gear before the camp begins.
