GREENORE LADIES

TWO ladies made a welcome return to the spotlight on Thursday.

Patricia Brennan won the 18hole Open Day with 32 pts, while the nine-hole stableford qualifier saw Mary McGoey back in form posting 20 pts to win.

Mary progresses, along with the Gents winner Dean Mulligan, to the regional qualifier and if the pair are successful they progress to the Final in Carnoustie on Saturday July 14.

The Roslin Cup staged on Saturday had a good entry. Marie Hollywood carded a fine 35 pts to win. She was closely followed by runner-up Catherine Woods on 34pts while Rosemary Hanratty came third with 33pts. Two’s: Fionnuala Gaffney on 6th.

Congratula­tions to our Breffnie Shield team of Seana and Emily McGuinness and Catherine Woods and Monica Mullen who came runner-up in the final staged at County Louth last week. Co Louth GC were the outright winners.

This Thursday there is an Open Singles Stableford competitio­n, with alternate day play and a ninehole stableford qualifier available also.

Saturday 2nd June: PGA Tankard SF. BRS booking available from 7pm Wednesday.

MACBRIDE P&P

NUMBERS drawn in last Wednesday’s club lotto were 6, 22, 23 & 27. The lucky dip winners were Brenda Walker, David Moran and Ray McKenna.

The next draw will take place on Tuesday June 5th, with a jackpot prize of €3,200. Thank you for your continued support.

Congratula­tions to club member George Beardsley who finished third in the Cement Scratch Cup on Saturday. Well done also to Pádraic Sarsfield who won the Final 18 prize with a round of eight-under par. MacBride member Audrey Donnelly finished runner-up in the Ladies grade.

On Sunday morning MacBride played host to the Leinster Strokeplay Qualifying competitio­n. Congratula­tions to club members Sean Goggin, Barry Thornton and David O’Brien. They will be joined by Pat Greene and Ian Donnelly for the finals in Bagenalsto­wn.

The MacBride Club Strokeplay will take place on the evening of Friday June 8th and the entry sheet is on the club noticeboar­d.

The LDM Strokeplay will take place on Sunday June 10th in Seapoint and the closing date for entries is Sunday 3rd.

The Collon Open Scotch Foursomes will take place this week from Friday through to Monday June 4th. Members are encouraged to show your support.

Also on this weekend is the National Matchplay Finals in Tullamore. MacBride would like to wish the very best of luck to club member Audrey Donnelly in the Ladies grade and to George Beardsley who will play in the Gents grade. Good luck also to other local players Darren Fagan from Seapoint and Mark Millar from Cement.

THERE is no club competitio­n this weekend as all roads lead to Collon for their Open Fourball competitio­n which runs from June 1st to 4th.

The Louth Down Monaghan Mixed Foursomes took place on Sunday in Inniskeen. Congratula­tions to Seapoint’s Bridie Hanratty & Anto Mullen, Barbara & Declan Murphy and Marlo Everitt who all claimed prizes.

We would also like to wish Seapoint’s Darren Fagan the best of luck in the National Matchplay Finals taking place this weekend in Tullamore.

This year’s Summer Camp dates are from Monday July 9th to Friday 13th and applicatio­n forms are in the clubhouse. Please check the noticeboar­d for all entry sheets.

On August 25th and 26th Seapoint Pitch & Putt will proudly host the Irish Life PPUI Irish Internatio­nal Pitch & Putt Open.
