RAS TAILTEANN

There was a tremendous reception for the 150 cyclist taking part in this year’s Ras Tailteann as they passed through Slane on their journey to Athlone for the first stage last Sunday. This famous race started in Drogheda where there was a minute silence for Gay Howard a cycling legend that passed away earlier this year. The first climb was at Slane, 13.7km after the drop of the flag and it was the eventual stage winner Cyrille Thiery from the Swiss National team that took the honours. Thanks to all that came out and supported this great sporting occasion.

Thanks to local Cllr Wayne Harding, The Village Inn and Slane Tidy Towns for their help in erecting welcoming signs and for decorating the village for the occasion.
