All welcome to Louth Carers Week event in Westcourt
LOUTH Family Carers Support Group will mark Carers Week 2018 on June 14th with a special event in the Westcourt Hotel, Drogheda, from 1.45pm to 4pm.
As part of National Carer’s Week which highlights the major role of family carers, the Louth Family Carers Support Group will present an afternoon dedicated to Carers issues.
This is a free event, which is not just open to those who work in the caring profession, or care for a loved one, but all are welcome to pop in and join them in recognising the valuable role played by carers and challenges they face.
On the day, attendees will learn about what they do as a support group, and also about any available services in the area which may make life easier for all concerned.
There will be exhibition stands giving information on a multitude of services, and refreshments will be served.
There will also be talks from leading healthcare and support care speakers.
The local Redcross Community organisation will be one of the key exhibitors at the groups event, and not only will they be the launching their 2018 Carers of the Year Awards, including nominations, but showcasing their specially designed Carers App.
The app was developed as part of helping you to care programme, which provides resources to support voluntary carers in communities across Ireland. Development of the App was funded by Canon cameras. The Irish Red Cross is a member of Care Alliance which endeavours to provide quality supports for all carers.
Following research amongst Carers, the Irish Red Cross identified a need for a quality user friendly app that would assist managing the day to day care needs of those being cared for.
The app includes features to manage daily tasks such as administering medications, making sure meals are scheduled, assigning a minder when required, and looking after
appointments and to do reminders. Allowing the user to effectively coordinate immediate care needs between all carers and care professionals involved in the Care plan.
