Slimmersbring in€3,000boost

-

GENEROUS slimmers across Mid louth and Dundalk have raised €3,000 for charity by donating the clothes they’ve successfully slimmed out of and know they’ll no longer need. 100 bags of clothes have been collected as part of the Big Slimming World clothes throw, held at the Ardee groups and The Geraldines groups in Haggardstown.

The bags will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society shops in the area as part of the national fundraising drive being run by the weight loss organisation.

Slimming World also aims to raise awareness of how keeping a healthy weight can reduce the risk of developing some types of cancer. Each of the filled bags is worth around €30.00 to the charity.

Lynne Mc Cormack (pictured) who runs the St Marys Ardee groups and The Geraldines GAA Groups in Haggardstown is delighted to have raised so much money for the charity.

She says “I can’t quite believe how many bags we managed to collect, I’m delighted with the effort my members made. Collecting them up to take them to Drogheda was a task in itself requiring 4 deliveries but it was so worthwhile . To raise such an amount of money feels amazing.

‘ When my members lose weight, I see more than just a physical transformation. Above all, I see their confidence bloom. Many go from nervous and shy new members to confident and happy in as little as 4-6 weeks.

‘ They learn to remove feelings of guilt around food, and instead feel empowered by all the Free Foods available on plan. Through Food Optimising, they learn not just to change the way they feel about themselves, but also to change the way they think about food by making small changes to the way the Shop, cook and eat, and the weight soon falls off without them ever saying they are on a “diet”, There is NO diet, it’s a lifestyle change.

Anyone who would love to find out more about Slimming Works is invited to get in touch with Lynne on 087 9879776 or Facebook Slimming World Ardee or The Gerardines Dundalk.

Group runs Tuesday’s in Ardee from 7:30/9:30/11:30am or 5:30/7:30pm or The Geraldines GAA, Thursday’s 5:30/7:30pm , Friday 9:30am.
