Local sides go West for Feile

THE 2018 ‘John West’ U14 Feile na nGael festival of hurling goes ahead this coming weekend from Friday June 8 to Sunday June 10.

This year’s competitio­n is being hosted by clubs throughout Connacht alongside clubs from Longford and Westmeath.

Louth U14 Feile Champions Naomh Moninne and St Fechins will represent the county this year, with the Dundalk outfit taking part in Division 7 and St Fechins competing in Division 8.

Moninne’s host club will be Padraig Pearse’s from Roscommon with the other two clubs making up the quartet of teams in their division being Killimor (Galway) and Erne Gaels Belleek (Fermanagh).

St Fechins will also have a Roscommon host club in the form of Four Roads, with the other two clubs being St Dominic’s (Roscommon) and Twomilehou­se (Kildare).

Group games will commence on Friday evening with two games followed by a third game on Saturday morning against the host clubs.

Based on results clubs will then progress to the Cup or Shield Quarter Finals at the Connacht Gaa Centre in Ballyhauni­s (Mayo) on Saturday afternoon.

Fixtures Div 7 – Friday June 8 Naomh Moninne v Killimor in Killimor at 5pm; Naomh Moninne v Erne Gaels Belleek in Killimor at 6.30pm; Saturday June 9 Naomh Moninne v Padraig Pearse’s in Woodmount at 10.45am.

Fixtures Div 8 – Friday June 8 St Fechins v St Dominic’s at St Dominic’s at 5.45pm; St Fechins v Twomilehou­se at St Dominic’s at 7.15pm; Saturday June 9 St Fechins v Four Roads at Four Roads at 10.45am.
