Eric’s 5k time is just Devine!

-

DAVID Doyle of Duleek & District AC continues to gather up the silverware after multiple podium finishes of late and last weekend was no exception as he was placed third in the 800m at the Leinster Championships.

Elsewhere, the village of Stamullen was streaming with athletes last Tuesday for the annual Star of the Sea 5k road race.

The popular and well-run race, a must on the racing calendar, attracted runners from far and near to compete and 42 Duleek athletes turned out to earn valuable points as the race formed part of the Supreme Clean Captain’s League.

Eric Devine is going from strength to strength and he produced a tremendous performance when running 18:41. Gary Tierney was second home for the club and will be one to watch on the racing front over the coming weeks.

Niamh Connolly was the first lady home for the club, followed by Karen Creed.

There was a full house from Team Cool Running and Tara Devine set a PB for the distance, while it was a fruitful day for Graham Byrne, who placed second in his age category.

Mick Hillman travelled north to the walled city to compete in the Derry Marathon where the route took the participants along the banks of the River Foyle and around parts of the city coined by the troubles. Hillman crossed the line in 4:33, earning himself a large medal.
