A unique day on Ship Street as residents plan a bright future

JUST a few months ago, Ship Street was a wasteland in many ways, a green area, overgrown, a potholed road and dangerous buildings abounded.

Many still don’t have a roof, but in terms of the rest of the street - the place has been transformed.

Local councllor Frank Godfrey and the local residents group have spent weeks carrying out work and last Sunday they proudly showed it off.

Many sponsors have come forward and even a special Ship Street entrance stone has been on show.

New seating has also turned it into a place to truly treasure.
