He also says emergency vehicles, including the fire brigade could struggle to get down the sometimes congested route.

‘ The problem is when cars park on both sides of the street, meaning it’s just one lane. It also gets very narrow,’ he told the Ardee area council meeting.

He wants to see more signage erected on the street, warning people that it’s a vital route to the beach area and the lifeboat base and must be kept clear at all times.

‘Last week pedestrian­s were forced to walk on the road, never mind people with buggies.

‘ There are a lot of elderly people at the bottom of the road and the emergency services would not be able to get to them,’ he stated.

He also said the lifeguards are back on duty and if there was an emergency, ‘an ambulance would never get down the road.’

He said people are very welcome to Clogherhea­d all the time, but they must be made aware of the situation. Louth County Council are to look at the road. THE MMM community has been saddened by the death of Sr. Louis Marie.

Sr Louis Marie was born Mary Elizabeth Brett in Co. Sligo in 1926. After her basic education she helped on the family farm and worked for three years as a governess in Dublin. She returned home to care for her younger siblings when their mother died. An active member of the Legion of Mary, she was inspired by the work of Edel Quinn in Africa, and was eventually able to join MMM in 1955.

After profession Sr. Louis Marie did nurse training and completed a commercial course. She later trained in hospital administra­tion. In 1964 she was assigned to Nigeria. She spent over 13 years there in several missions, serving as hospital secretary and in MMM leadership.

In 1984 she returned to Ireland and was based in Drogheda apart from a short time working at Rosedale Residentia­l Home in Kilmacow. At the MMM Motherhous­e in Beechgrove she was the local bursar and assistant to the regional bursar for several years. She was also a driver for the house. In 2010, at the age of 84, she took up a new role working in the stamp department, in which she took a great interest.

Sr. Louis Marie died peacefully on 3 June 2018.
