McKee and Byrne working on boundary issues

-

FIANNA Fail councillors Stephen McKee and Tommy Byrne say they are actively working together to highlight and address issues affecting residents in a number of local housing estates that straddle the County boundary.

McKee stated: ‘ There are a number of road safety issues on the Dublin Road affecting residents, the majority of whom are living in County Louth, but with some residents living in County Meath. Both Tommy Byrne and I are placing motions down at our respective Councils to try and improve road safety in this area; for example outside Beaubec where there are serious safety concerns.”

‘We also need to see road resurfacing work through Rosevale, Ard Rí and Cairns, Beaubec and footpaths re-done also in places. Some of these roads have not been done in a very long time and it is showing’ continued McKee.

‘I was delighted to lead the campaign alongside residents from both Deepforde and Five Oaks, for a new footpath to be delivered shortly to connect the two estates, and with the support of both Louth and Meath County Councils it shows what can be done when there is co-operation for the common good.”

Cllr Tommy Byrne said he will continue to do all he can to assist residents on the Dublin Road and is delighted to work alongside Cllr McKee to try and improve the quality of life for all residents.

Cllr Byrne said: ‘I am particularly concerned about road safety outside Beaubec and am asking for additional signage from Louth County Council. The road in Rosevale is also in a disgraceful state and work needs to be carried out on it. ‘
