O RAGHALLAIG­HS went into Friday’s game against St Mochtas on Friday night knowing that if results went their way they could have clinched the Division 2 title and automatic promotion, but in the end it wasn’t to be.

The Drogheda men would have been strongly fancied to account for the challenge of St Mochtas at home but ultimately they suffered their first defeat of the season.

The Louth Village side played with great determinat­ion throughout and deservedly claimed a victory that moves them into a comfortabl­e mid-table position.

Goals from Jamie Farrell and Andy English proved decisive for the winners as the held out to win by two points despite O Raghallaig­hs finding the net through Barry Flanagan.
