Lennon inspires Kilkerley

KILKERLEY EMMETS ROCHE EMMETS 2-12 0-13

KILKERLEY Emmets clocked up another deserved win but again owe most to Shane Lennon who hit 1-12, with 1-5 from open play as he gave the Roche defence a torrid time throughout.

Roche stayed in the game mainly due to Barry O’Hare’s place kicking but Kilkerley ran out deserving winners to keep their league title hopes alive.

Lennon set the tone with the opening score of the game and although O’Hare levelled soon after, the Kilkerley man found the back of the net for the next score to put his side in charge.

The former Louth player then added four more points to see his side lead by 1-5 to 0-4 at half time.

Roche rallied at the start of the second half and points from O’Hare (3) and Eugene Murray saw them cut the gap to one point.

However, a goal from substitute Ciaran McGlynn steadied the ship for Kilkerley and Lennon added three points to ensure victory. KILKERLEY EMMETS: Cillian Quigley; Cormac Bellew, Alan McGeough, Ciaran Clarke; Cillian Kampes, Andrew McGuill, James Bellew; James Fegan, Ciaran Bellew; Ronan Mulholland, Shane Lennon 1-12, Rian Hand; Darren Litchfield, Conal McEneaney, Dan McKeown. Sub: Ciaran McGlynn 1-0 for A McGuill, Dean Bourton for Litchfield, Ciaran Murtagh for Kampes; Micheal McGeown for J Bellew.
