-

ST JOSEPHS GLEN EMMETS 3-13 0-14

THE Joes continued their battle against relegation with a critical home win against Glen Emmets.

The Cluskey Park side made a blistering start as they opened with a point from Conall Smyth and with Oisin McGuinness, Alan Quigley and Killian Staunton also on target, they led by 0-6 to 0-1 after seven minutes. James Butler replied for the Emmets.

The Emmets cut the gap back to three points but they suffered a setback when Staunton set up Peter Brennan to score the first goal of the game on 16 minutes.

Again, the Tullyallen side replied and with Keelan O’Neill and Jamie Gilkes on target they cut the gap to three again, but just before the break Daire Smyth fired in the second goal to make it 2-9 to 0-8 at half time.

The Joes extended the lead with points from Staunton, Alan Quigley and Conall Smyth and although the Emmets hit back through Butler and Isaac Walsh, the game was over as a contest on 46 minutes when Jack Mulligan found the net from close range.

Ronan Grufferty and Butler added a brace each in the closing stages but it was little more than consolation for the visitors.
