87 homes and new nursing home plan
PERMISSION GRANTED FOR MAJOR PROJECT ON TERMONFECKIN ROAD
LOUTH County Council has granted permission for a new housing development and a 123 bedroom nursing home just off the Termonfeckin Road in Drogheda.
The new development, featuring 87 houses and the nursing complex, that will create 18 new jobs, is at the rear of Termon Abbey and is close to the Newtown Blues club entrance.
Ravala Ltd had sought permission to build 10 single storey disability/retirement houses, 40 three-bed Semi-detached, 20 three-bed end of terrace, 9 two-bed mid terrace, 3 threebed mid terrace, 3 three-bed detached and 2 four-bed detached houses. The nursing home will be three storey.
The site boundary ‘skirts’ the Beaulieu Stream and the port access route runs along the eastern boundary of adjoining lands owned by Ravala Ltd.
‘ The proposed linear park will be delivered by the applicant where it passes through the subject site as part of the proposed housing development,’ the planners report states.
This is the second phase development of 87 houses of the scheme. Initial permission for 314 units was granted in June 2009.
Consultants for the developers say that the site is already approved for residential development under two previous applications and it is proposed to ‘subdivide the existing granted development into a more manageable phased development’ with phase one, 63 dwellings, phase two, 87 units and a nursing home.
Development levies for the 87 houses and the nursing home amount to €894,966.
