Man (46) was intoxicated outside St Peter’s Church
A 46-year-old mid-Louth resident has been given an opportunity to avoid convictions for three counts of public order.
Paul Reilly, Ferdia Park, Ardee, pleaded guilty to being intoxicated in a public place, engaging in threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour and failing to comply with the direction of a garda on 11 June last in Drogheda.
Sgt Ray Brady said that gardaí asked the defendant to stop drinking outside St Peter’s Church and leave the area. When they returned he was still present.
At the garda station he became aggressive and called officers unsavoury names.
It was stated on behalf of Reilly that he helps and volunteers with the Red Door project in Drogheda. He has a significant alcohol problem.
The case was adjourned to 21 September for payment of €300 to charity.
