Sacred Heart Class of 1978 to hold 40th reunion

-

HERE come the girls...of 1978!

If you were part of the lucky few who can call themselves the Sacred Heart Class of 78, then you are cordially invited to join in an evening of nostalgia, memories, laughter and more than a few flashbacks to school days 40 years ago.

The 40th reunion of the students who left the Sunnyside school in 1978 are all gathering in the Boyne Valley Hotel on Saturday June 30th and organisers are hoping as many as possible will make the trip, no matter how near or far they are.

“At the moment, we have been able to contact over 90 girls who left in that year, and we have included a good few from 1977, who would have left St Genevieve’s a year early, which meant we were split up,” says past-pupil Rosaleen Murphy.

“We are all hoping to get as many people as possible together on the night, and we are all looking forward to catching up with as many as possible.”

Tickets for the event are just €15 and that will include dinner and dancing.

“We’ve had lots of replies, and we have managed to gather a good few photos and other memories from our year, so there should be a good bit of entertainment on the night with that too,” adds Miriam McCabe, also a graduate of 1978.

“We know some people are living abroad, and there may be a few away on holidays this time of the year, still we’re hoping the word will be spread enough for as many as possible to try and come along.”

The ladies ask that tickets be bought in advance as much as possible so that they have numbers before the night, and they can be purchased in a few locations around Drogheda.

“You can drop into Patricia Collier in Owen Fox Jewellers in Shop Street, or Miriam McCabe in AIB in Dyer Street and buy them there, or if you phone me on 086 8565439, I will keep you a ticket for the night,” adds Rosaleen.
