President Higgins opens Fleadh on August 12
PRESIDENT Michael D Higgins will officially open the
2018 Fleadh in Drogheda at 2.30pm on Sunday August 12.
It will be followed by a series of musical performances.
The opening Sunday promises to be an exciting day with a lunchtime concert getting things going in the Droichead Arts Centre at 1pm.
St Peter’s Church of Ireland hosts Zoe Conway and
Julie Fowlis at 6pm and the Crescent Theatre at the former Star and Crescent on
Trinity Street will be the location for a magical concert, with sean nos dancer Sibeal Davitt, Gerry O’Connor, local group Kern, Banjo king Stevie Dunne and lots more.
There are a series of events on throughout the week.
