-

the game was up at that stage.

Thereafter they barely landed a glove on the hosts, who grew in confidence and stature with every passing minute. The crowd were drawn in too, celebrating every point with a fist-pump and greeting every tackle with a loud roar.

It got embarrassing for Louth by the finish as black cards for Bevan Duffy and Emmet Carolan after all six subs had been used, saw them reduced to 12 men.

The final whistle just couldn’t come quick enough and unfortunately that’s been a familiar feeling for Pete McGrath’s side all season.

Jack Heslin (Leitrim)

THE Connacht men had plenty of contenders by the end as Emlyn Mulligan, Ryan O’Rourke, Damian Moran and Darragh Rooney all scored freely. However, midfielder Heslin was immense throughout, taking control of the midfield once Louth had been reduced to 14 men. Capable of venturing forward to kick a score, finishing up with a nice brace to add the gloss to an all-action display.
