- By HUBERT MURPHY

JADOTVILLE - the real story will be told at a special night in the Westcourt Hotel om Wednesday July 4 at 8pm.

The Drogheda and Slane branch of ONE, the ex serviceman’s and women’s organisation, are hosting the evening and Comd Leo Quinlan will deliver the talk. It was the original story by his father, Comd Pat Quinlan.

Admission is €10 and students and senior citizens are €5.

All proceeds go to the annual Fuchsia Appeal 2018 and tickets are available on the door or contact 0872458831.

The Fuchsia Flag, which marks the fundraising period during July and August, was presented to Louth County Council last week.

It will hang from the Tholsel during the summer, much to the delight of the local ONE members.

The Fuchsia Appeal is run annually to raise funds for the ONE’s charitable objects, namely the provision of accommodation and other assistance to ex-service personnel in need. The main drive of the appeal takes place during the month of July.

The fuchsia was chosen as it is widely grown throughout Ireland and is commonly known as Deora Dé or God’s Tears in the West of Ireland.

ONE stands for Óglaigh Náisiúnta Na hÉireann.
