AN 18-YEAR- OLD man accused of murdering Dunleer teenager Cameron Reilly is due to appear in court again on Thursday.

Aaron Connolly (right), from Willistown, Drumcar, was brought before last Friday’s sitting of Drogheda district court after being charged with murder the night before.

Connolly was remanded to Cloverhill where he will appear via video link onThursday.

Aaron Connolly, Willistown, Drumcar, was brought before last Friday’s sitting of Drogheda district court after being charged with murder the night before.

Det Sgt Fergal O’Toole gave evidence that at 6.04pm on Thursday, 5 July, he arrested Aaron Connolly at Willistown, Drumcar, before taking him to Drogheda garda station where, at 6.56pm, he charged him with the murder of Cameron Reilly (18) at Shamrock Hill, Dunleer, on Saturday, 26 May, last.

After charge and caution the accused made no reply.

Inspector John O’Flaherty applied for a remand in custody to Cloverhill on Thursday, 12 July, at 10am via video-link.

Defence solicitor, Peter Lavery said his client is not working and is an appropriat­e candidate for legal aid.

Judge John Coughlan remanded Aaron Connolly in custody by consent to Cloverhill district court on Thursday. He was granted legal aid.

The body of Cameron Reilly, Beechwood Estate, Dunleer, a first-year student at Dundalk Institute of Technology, was found in a field at Rivervale in the town around 8.30am on 26 May.

His death has shocked the close knit community of Dunleer.

He was a former student of Scoil Ui Mhuiri in Dunleer.
