Man begging had pliers and scraper for bad tooth
A 49-year-old man who was ‘aggressively begging’ in the town centre has appeared before Drogheda court on a charge under the Offensive Weapons & Firearms Act.
Alan Flood, North Strand, had a pliers and paint scraper on him but Judge Coughlan was told he had those implements to remove a bad tooth.
Inspector John O’Flaherty gave evidence that at 1.05pm on 5 May last a man was begging aggressively in Dyer Street. He was sitting on the ground.
Solicitor Patrick Branigan said Flood had a bad tooth which he attempted to take out with a pliers and paint scraper. He had a broken tooth the next day.
The defendant who pleaded guilty, has ‘multiple issues’. The case was adjourned to 2 November for a probation report.
