Eight months for man who had stolen moped
A 27-year-old man who pleaded guilty to having a stolen moped has been sentenced to eight months imprisonment.
Seán Bird, Beechwood Avenue, Marley’s Lane, had bail in the event of an appeal set at €200 cash.
Gardaí found a moped in the back garden during a search of his house on 18 April last.
He told officers he bought it off a local whom he knew and described as ‘a scumbag’.
The moped, in bad condition, had been stolen from a house in Cedarfield on 10 February, 2015. Bird has fifteen previous convictions. Solicitor Dermot Monahan said his client can neither read or write. He is engaging with the probation service and his girlfriend is due to give birth in October.
