Don’t miss Alice in Wonderland at the Battle of the Boyne

CHAPTERHOU­SE Theatre Company take to the stage with their annual open air theatre show on July 21

The Battle of the Boyne will host the family favourite ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ on Saturday 21st July. The Droichead Arts Centre encourage audiences to bring along a rug and a picnic (and perhaps a glass of wine or two for the adults...) before being whisked away by the magic of theatre on a summer evening.

The events are eagerly anticipate­d each year and this year they expect there to a high demand for tickets so the advice is to book early to avoid disappoint­ment.

Recommende­d arrival time is 5.30pm to allow you to get parked and to find a picnic space. The event will go ahead rain or shine.

Referees course

THE Louth Branch are seeking new referees for a beginners course being run by the FAI.

It takes place at Oriel Park on August 11 and 12th next.

The time for the course is 15 hours over two days. Courses generally run from 9am – 5pm. All participan­ts must attend both days in full. The practical session will not involve any physical activity but it is recommende­d that you bring suitable clothing with you in case of inclement weather. You will be required to undertake, and pass, a 20 question exam on the Laws of the game. Bring a notebook & pen/pencil. Bring a whistle. Bring an open mind and lots of enthusiasm !

It’s for male and female, 16 years plus. The course will consist of 14 hours classroom tuition and a one hour outdoor practical session. Contact Stephen King, Email: referees@fai.ie.

East Meath cycle

East Meath Cycle Tour – a cycling sportive catering for all levels through the beautiful Boyne Valley - takes place on August 12 from 10am.

There are three routes to choose from ,45km for beginners, 70km and the 100km Challenge. Refreshmen­ts on route and after, Parking and Showers on Site. All proceeds go to the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Associatio­n.

Cycling Ireland approved - Fee €20 and €25 Non Cycling Ireland members (to cover insurance). Starting from St. Patricks GAA Club,Stamullen.
