Ladies go on a scoring spree

STILL smarting from their Leinster quarter-final defeat to Wicklow, Meath went on a goal-scoring spree as they brushed aside the challenge of Fermanagh in the All-Ireland IFC at Clones on Sunday.

Fermanagh managed an early goal, but after that it was all Meath and by half-time they had built up a 6-12 to 1-2 lead.

raised green flags before halftime.

A similar pattern emerged throughout the second half and within eight minutes of the restart Meath had added further goals, with one of them coming from Seneschals­town’s Stacey Grimes from the penalty spot.

Marion Farrelly top-scored with 3-3 for the winners who will likely face a tougher test when they take on Roscommon in Kinnegad this coming Saturday at 1.30pm.
