€360,000 in funding for fishing industry
OVER €360,000 in funding has been awarded to three Co Louth fishery and seafood pojects.
€362,000 has been granted to assist the local Louth projects, two in the Seafood Processing Capital Investment Scheme and another for the Sustainable Fisheries Scheme.
Louth TD Fergus O’Dowd welcomed the funding.
“Minister for Agriculture Food and the Marine Michael Creed confirmed total funding of €1,532,230 in grants to 20 seafood enterprises in 10 different counties under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund Operational Programme for the seafood sector. The grants are co-funded by Government of Ireland and the European Union and subject to terms and conditions.,” he said.
“This is fantastic news for County Louth and shows a commitment to supporting development in our local fisheries.
“They provide significant local employment and this funding will help support upwards of €1m in local development projects. “
Seafood Processors Ltd. received a total of €221,250 as an investment in value added processing equipment, plus an additional funding of €10,664.
Clogherhead Fishermen’s Coop received €130,043 for Landing Obligation Infrastructure.
Three support schemes are available to the seafood processing sector to foster and support innovation, value-adding, new market development and investment in new equipment and premises.
