Call for mattress disposal

-

FACILITIES should be put in place so that people can leave old mattresses at recycling centres, Cllr Conor Keelan has suggested. He told the monthly meeting of Louth County Council that he believed such a measure would cut down on illegal dumping and pointed out that a number of councils already operated such a scheme, where members of the public can dispose of old mattresses at recycling centres for free. He believed this had proven quite successful in reducing fly-tipping.

Director of Service Emer O’Gorman said she would look into the suggestion but it would have budgetry implications.
