Joint effort by local groups to recover whale from river

BOYNE Fishermans Rescue and Recovery Service had the unfortunat­e task last week of assisting with the removal of a deceased whale from the mouth of the river Boyne.

The whale was discovered recently after been found washed up during the week, and during the operation last Friday morning, the voluntary service provided one inshore rescue boat and crew to monitor the removal.

Also assisting with the recovery and removal were Clogherhea­d Coast Guard unit and Louth County Council.
