Larry’s familiar helicopter
August 1981
ONE of the country’s leading business executives, Mr. Larry Goodman, has set a new fashion in meeting his daily round of engagements. When the minutes are really precious he does his travelling by helicopter! Around Ardee and surrounding areas, the winged bird is a pretty familiar sight these days.
Mr. Goodman who resides at Bragganstown House, Castlebellingham, is chairman and managing director of Anglo-Irish Beef Packers which have factories in as widely scattered places as Dundalk, Cahir, Enniskillen, Nenagh and Bagenalstown. The company’s high place in the Irish economy will be significantly added to when the projected £10 million plant at Currabeg. Ardee, becomes a reality.
At full production it is expected that this factory will be giving employment to around 360.
It is intended that the Ardee factory will be the group’s headquarters, and as such the aim is to make it the showpiece. Mr. Goodman states: “The Ardee factory will be constructed to cater in a special way for overseas customers who will be continuously visiting the plant to inspect the facilities and quality of our products. Ardee would also provide the location for the head office and computer centre for the group.”
To speed up developments at all the firms factories, a separate design and planning section has been set up, known as Ardee International Project Consultants Ltd.
