‘Junior’ signs for Drogs

-

FOLLOWING the transfer of Liam Beckitt to Coleraine last week, Drogheda signed Christy ( junior) Campbell from the Leinstcr Senior League club and intermediate cup winners, CYM (Dublin).

Aged 26 years, Junior as he is popularly known played League of Ireland football with Drumcondra and St. Patrick’s Athletic before assisting CYM with whom he teamed up with Willie Roche.

He is a younger brother of Phil Campbell, who saw service with Drumcondra and Athlone Town before signing for CYM. Both brothers were on the CYM team which won the Intermediate Cup last Sunday week, defeating Belgrove by 3-0 at Tolka Park.

Incidently CYM, who are managed by Mick Lynch, a former Drogheda manager and player, have a home tie with Waterford in the F.A.I. Cup and this will be played at Milltown on Sunday, February 16.
