Moldova Credit Union guests sample slice of Boyneside living
FROM South America to Eastern Europe, the town has recently welcomed visitors from many corners of the globe. Last week Drogheda Credit Union was delighted to host a delegation from Moldova, who received a warm welcome from Mayor of Drogheda, Frank Godfrey, during their visit to Drogheda.
The delegation mainly comprised of representatives from the National Commission for Financial Markets and the Ministry for Finance, the former is responsible for the supervision of credit unions in Moldova.
“We were honoured to be part of the study week for the delegation from Moldova,” said Geraldine Gilsenan, Chairperson of Drogheda Credit Union.
“I hope their insight into our Credit Unions will assist them in their future growth.”
The visit to Ireland was organised by the Irish League of Credit Unions International Development Foundation (ILCU Foundation), the charitable arm of the Irish credit union movement.
Alina Cebotariov, Head of Non-Banking Credit in National Commission for Financial Markets, Moldova said the delegation was very grateful to the staff and Board of Drogheda Credit Union.
“For us it is important to see how credit unions operate in other countries and we can learn a lot from Ireland in order to help strengthen the movement in Moldova.”
Following the discussions Drogheda Credit Union presented each participant with an ‘Irish gift bag’, to allow the delegation to sample all the things that we love in Ireland.
As Moldova is a landlocked country the delegation also had the opportunity to visit the beach in Bettystown on their way back to Dublin.
