FOUR MONTHS SENTENCE

-

A four months sentence has been handed to Przemyslaw Kuca (34) of no fixed abode, described by the judge as a man who continually re-offends. He pleaded guilty to 13 public order offences and one count of theft which occurred over a period from 21 February, 2017 to 23 July last. Sgt Ray Brady said Kuca, with addresses given at Harper House, William Street and St Joseph’s Homeless Aid, has 25 previous convictions, fifteen of which are for public order. He added the defendant has been offered every chance in the past but regularly re-offends and has refused to engage with the probation service.

Solicitor Fiona Darcy said her client, who gets €190 social welfare per-week, has been in custody since 23 July and it has helped him see the light. He is completely sober.

He realises he needs to get his alcoholism under control. He is on medication for epilepsy and shouldn’t be drinking any way.

Judge Coughlan imposed a four months sentence and told Ms Darcy he wouldn’t consider suspending it.

‘He (Kuca) is continually re-offending,’ the judge said.
