Dunleer man John McMahon killed

-

IT would be great to do some more on 100th anniversaries coming up this year on soldiers who went to war in 1914-1918 and never came home to Ardee and Dunleer.

One of those was John McMahon of the Worcestershire Regiment who was killed in France in August 1918.

He was from Cappog and enlisted in Liverpool. He was formerly with the South Wales Borderers.

Patrick Sullivan from Ardee was killed in October 1918 in Flanders. He also enlisted in Liverpool and was part of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers.

John Thornton from Ardee was killed on August 21, 1918 and was in the Royal Irish Regiment. He also saw action with the R. Innis Fusillers and the R.D. Fusiliers.
