ROCHE EMMETS O RAGHALLAIG­H’S 6-2 2-4

AN unanswered burst of three goals and a point in the last 10 minutes secured victory for Roche Emmets in the Under-12 B FL decider in Darver on Friday night.

O Raghallaig­h’s had run this team close when they met in the league five weeks previously, but this time the stakes were higher and the Drogheds side came out of the blocks quicker, only to be denied by staunch defending from the likes of Craomhain McGahon and Robert Keenan.

Roche goalkeeper Richard Steiber soon got his side rolling, with some fine kickouts finding the intended targets in midfielder­s Andrew Mc Ardle and Joshua Mc Guinness, both of whom worked tirelessly throughout.

Any breaking ball that that came about was swiftly gathered up by half backs Luca Craig-Hay and Sean O Donnell who at all times delivered direct ball in to the half forwards Cathal Corcoran and Oisin Gaskin.

Their trickery and consistent workrate helped the full forwards James Corcoran and Ronan Bradley be a constant pain for the O Raghallaig­h’s back line.

This was by no means a one-sided game, though, and the well-organised and very determined Drogheda boys gave as good as they got and went in at the interval just 2 scores down - 3-0 to
