Port route is ‘not funded’

-

THE Minister for Transport Shane Ross TD has confirmed to Senator Ged Nash that the long-awaited Northern Port Access Route will not be funded under the government’s multi-billion euro National Development Plan.

“Shane Ross, in a reply to me, said categorically that the Port Access Route ‘is not provided for in the Capital Plan. This is a travesty for Drogheda. This orbital road is critical to allow the town to develop to its full potential and to deal with traffic snarlups in the area,’ Sen Nash stated.

“It was always the case that the route would predominantly be paid for by levies on developers opening up land for development in the northern environs plan, but there was always going to be a need to secure State investment for a road of this nature and importance to advance.
