Businesses pledge to keep prices low and the customer experience high for Drogheda’s Fleadh Cheoil week

-

NO one wants to feel like they are being ripped off, and hundreds of businesses in Drogheda have signed a pledge promising to offer good value and great customer service to locals and visitors alike during the Fleadh.

The Fleadh Failte Charter was devised by The Fleadh Charter and Legacy Committee, and businesses in in the town centre signed it on May 30th, promising to adhere to a few objectives.

They say they are all committed to: being Fleadh ready and keeping it simple; offering value for money to all; offering great customer service; improving accessibility for all; respecting the tradition of the Fleadh; welcoming musicians into their premises; ensuring a green and clean Fleadh and encouraging the Cúpla Focal.

“You reap what you sow, and we all want visitors and locals alike who come to Drogheda for the Fleadh to leave saying they had a positive retail experience when here,” says Declan Kierans of the Pain Factory, speaking for the other Laurence Street Traders.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all shops and businesses to shine and learn lessons for next year too.”

Declan is part of the committee aiming to keep tourism interested into 2020 and beyond.

“Drogheda has so much to offer but the trick will be to keep momentum going into future years to keep people coming back,” he adds.

“Getting everyone behind initiatives like this goes a long way towards that goal.”

This latest pledge runs in conjunction with the Green Fleadh Committee making great strides to “green” the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann.

Many of the local hospitality businesses within the Fleadh Zone are taking part in the Green Fleadh Business Programme, taking part in audits which will identify reducing food waste, energy and water use, and increase recycling.
