BIG DAY FOR STUDENTS

STUDENTS CAN ALSO GO ON SOCIAL, HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL TRIPS

TO mark the end of the Leaving Certificat­e examinatio­ns and QQI assessment­s, LMETB VTOS students celebrated the moment with their family and friends. The adult learners who completed their Leaving Certificat­e will be celebratin­g again this week when they receive their results!

VTOS is a full-time educationa­l course aimed specifical­ly at adults over the age of 21 and in receipt of a social welfare allowance.

With the help of their teachers, participan­ts successful­ly completed a range of courses including Leaving Certificat­e, QQI General Learning course and QQI Liberal Arts/ Social Studies course where students are enabled to build up a portfolio of subjects and gain multiple certificat­ion. Opportunit­ies for learners to attend informatio­n and shadowing days in n Third Level Colleges are facilitate­d throughout t the year.

Students are also prepared for the work place and many have successful­ly obtained employment. LAEGIS (Louth Adult Education Guidance Informatio­n Service) within LMETB offers informatio­n and guidance to individual­s regarding possible progressio­n options.

Students can also avail of the opportunit­y to participat­e in social, historical and cultural study trips including art galleries, museums, theatre, at local and national venues. These are important occasions in the academic year to support the demands of the various subjects and a chance to enjoy and explore our rich cultural heritage.

The graduation ceremony celebrated the manifold achievemen­ts of the 2017-2018 participan­ts and certificat­es were presented by Imelda PruntyPrun­ty, LMETB Adult Education Officer. Graduates have successful­ly obtained further education places within LMETB and at Third Level colleges including Trinity, Maynooth, DKIT, and DCU.

LMETB is currently recruiting for their FREE Full-Time ( VTOS) and Part-Time Adult Education courses in Drogheda due to start in September. You are invited to attend their FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING OPEN DAY, in the d Hotel, on Wednesday 22nd August from 10.00am to 1pm where you can get further details on the many courses available.
