John Martin fought in WWI

REGRET was occasioned by the death, which occurred in the locaL Cottage HospItal on Thursday of last week, of Mr. John Martin. Francis St., Drogheda.

The deceased who was in his seventies, had been ailing for years.

Mr. Martin fought in World War 1 with the Royal Artillery of the British Army. On his discharge from the Army he came back to reside in his native Drogheda. He was of a quiet and charitable dispositio­n and was always held in the highest esteem in his neighbourh­ood.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs Mary Jane Martin, a brother, Mr James Martin, relatives and friends.

The funeral took place on Saturday to St. Peter’s Cemetery.
