CHANGES IN THE ARCHDIOCESE.

Archbishop Eamon Martin has announced some parochial changes in the Archdiocese of Armagh. Termonfeckin is affected by these changes and it is with a certain degree of sadness we learn that our Parish Priest for the last number of years Fr. Aidan Murphy will be leaving for a new Parish.

Fr. Aidan will be going to Coalisland Parish in Co. Tyrone where he will take on the position of Curate and will also be the Chaplain to a school there. Meanwhile the current Parish Priest of Coalisland Fr. Paul Byrne will be the new Parish Priest in Termonfeckin. While Fr. Aidan was on sabbatical for almost a year, Fr. Stephen Duffy became Parish Administrator. Fr. Duffy is also leaving to take up the position of Parish Priest in Lordship/Ravensdale on the Cooley Peninsula. Fr. Paul Clayton Lea who we are very familiar with is retiring as Parish Priest in Tallanstown and will be based in Termonfeckin. It is understood that Fr. Paul will be acting in a Parish Assistant capacity but may also assist in other local Parishes.

TEA ON THE LAWN.

It proved a great success last year and will happen again this month. On Sunday August 19th following 11am Mass, the Parish Pastoral Council will organise “Tea on the Lawn” of the Church of the Immaculate Conception. This year the event celebrates the World Meeting of Families. Lovely refreshments not to mention tea and coffee will be available. Earlier in the year, the Parish Pastoral Council ran a competition in both Parish Schools and the results will be announced on the day. There will also be a “guess how many” competition on the day for everyone. All are welcome.

ST. FECHINS LOTTO.

The Lotto was won. Congratulations to John J. Conneely who wins €1,300. The numbers drawn were 4, 13, 17 and 22. The jackpot is now worth €1,000 and is sponsored by Madden’s Centra, Termonfeckin.

MACRA NA FEIRME.

The new Termonfeckin Macra year starts up again on Wednesday August 8th with the first meeting of the year in Sandpit Hall at 9pm to discuss upcoming club outings, competitions (sporting and non-sporting!) and plans for the year ahead. New members are welcome as always. If you are interested in learning more about Termonfeckin Macra, simply like the facebook page Macra Tearmann Feichin or contact Aoife on 087-6262197.

NO “FECKIN” TICKETS LEFT

All 8,000 tickets for the “Feckin House” have been sold. That’s it- all gone, no more. The draw will be on December 30th in the Westcourt Hotel. St. Fechin’s GFC would like to thank all those who bought tickets and wish everyone the best of luck in the draw.

BRIDGE REPAIRS.

Some work has been carried out to repair the wall of the bridge in Termonfeckin. However it is taking some time to get the capstones needed to complete the works. Some people have complained about the delay saying that it is still dangerous while some are not happy about the work to date. Hopefully the works will be completed soon. The traffic lights have also been out of order on certain days which is leaving it dangerous for motorists.
