Rock icon Suzi and Jackie make a hit!
DROGHEDA ARTIST PRODUCES CLASSIC IMAGES OF THE QUEEN OF MUSIC
WHEN one of the world’s iconic rock stars asks you to paint her picture - there’s only one answer - yes please!
And when you are a fan, it really helps.
Drogheda artist Jackie Hudson Lalor was actually producing images of another star, Phil Lynott , when her talent was spotted by a friend of Suzi Quatro and the rest was just rock n’ roll.
‘Recently I produced a small edition of a four colour print of Phil Lynott, which were gifted to friends of mine who had worked with him and who had introduced me to him many years ago, I also sent one to his Mother, Philomena.
‘I had posted the process of making the ‘Philo’ print over the weeks on Facebook where they were seen by Grace Peffers, who loved the print and very kindly connected me with her friend, Suzi Quatro.
‘ This led to my collaboration with Suzi, who supplied me with photos to work from to produce a printed portrait. I was delighted to be working with Suzi on this project, she is an absolute legend and has been a huge inspiration for me as a female bass player in my teenage years and is very active touring with her band today all over Europe and Australia,’ Jackie stated.
‘While intending to make just one print, I ended up making two, one of Suzi from the ‘70’s and also a more contemporary Suzi. The first print is made using 4 separate colours on Fabriano Rosapina Ivory paper and the second print is in black and grey on Fabriano tiepolo White paper.’
Suzi was so happy, she got a picture taken with Jackie’s images and sent it to her.
Born in Detroit, Suzi is one of the queens of music, producing such classics as ‘Devil Gate Drive’ and ‘If You Can’t Give Me Love’.
Jackie is a Professional Visual Artist and works in painting in oils, drawing and printmaking and has hosted exhibitions as far away as New York.
