Cancer Centre walkers complete amazing journey to get home

- By HUBERT MURPHY

A TEAM of dedicated walkers returned home to Drogheda on Sunday morning after completing a coast to coast walk for the Gary Kelly Cancer Support Centre.

The big hearted walkers - with sore feet - walked from Clarinbridge in Galway to Baltray, dipping their toes in both the Atlantic and the Irish Sea.

The walk took months to organise but proved a wonderful success for the charity.

They had plenty of adventures along the way but the greatest thing they came across was kindness.

At one stage, a gentleman opened his pub to put the kettle on and butter bread near Mullingar.

The Gary Kelly cancer support centre Trad group, known as Trad Saline turned out for the big welcome home - to give the crew a taste of the Fleadh.

Family and friends also came along and there was pizza for everyone!

The centre have thanked the walkers for their outstanding efforts that will help the centre well into the future.
