IF you are looking to get out and enjoy some of the open air interests locally during Heritage Week, the Boyne Valley audio guide tour may we well worth your attention.

Produced as part of an initiative between Meath Tourism, Meath County Council, Louth County Council and the OPW, the free self-guided audio tours start at the Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre and takes in much of the area’s most stunning and iconic heritage sites.

Visitors can download or stream the audio guide from the Abarta Heritage website and use their smartphone or device to listen along at their own pace.

You can simply press play and immerse yourself in the history of the Boyne Valley, as you marvel at its wonder right before your eyes.

The audio guide includes informatio­n on Newgrange, Knowth, Loughcrew, Mellifont, the Hill of Tara and much more besides.

There are tales of tragedy and violence too, with Oliver Cromwell’s bloody siege of Drogheda in 1649. Anyone interested in getting outdoors and learning about local history and heritage too are encouraged to take part.
