Death not suspicious

THE death of a woman in Aston Village is not being treated as suspicious.

Shortly after 5am on Sunday morning, Emergency Services and Gardaí were called to a house in the Aston Village area of Drogheda.

A woman aged in her 60s was pronounced dead in the house a short time later. Her body remained at the scene and it was preserved as the office of the State Pathologis­t was notified. Deputy State Pathologis­t Michael Curtis attended the scene

The initial cause of death was unclear and a post-mortem examinatio­n took place in the afternoon at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.

Gardaí later said that the death was not being treated as suspicious.
