ST MARYS SEAN O’MAHONYS 2-10 1-6

ST MARY’S completed their Division 1 campaign with a seven-point victory at home to Sean O’Mahonys on Saturday evening.

In their recent championship encounter it was the Dundalk men who prevailed after staging an impressive comeback, but on this occasion the Marys proved too strong from the outset.

Cian Commins was in fine form for the hosts as he finished with a total of 1-3 and his first half goal helped his side lead by three at the break.

Paudy Clarke added a second goal for the Ardee men and although David Dowling found the net for the muchchanged O’Mahonys, there was no dramatic recovery this time around and St Marys held on to win comfortably.

The victory ensured that the Mary’s wiped out any lingering relegation doubts and their focus now switches to a similar mission in the Championship relegation play-offs the weekend after next.
