DREADNOTS ST BRIDES 2-14 0-9

WITH St. Brides already secure in senior football for next season and Dreadnots already guaranteed a ‘Top 4’ semi-final spot it meant this tie at Knockbridge was just a formality.

However, it was the visitors who started the game better and raced into a commanding lead of ten points within the first eight minutes.

The highlight being two goals, one coming from Anthony Lynch and the other from Pauric Smith. The former coming straight from the throw in only after 20 seconds.

St Brides finally got off the mark on eleven minutes when Gareth Hall sent over a long-range minor.

Both sides exchanged two points each before the Clogherhead men raised the white flag twice more just before the interval to leave their side well in control with the scoreboard reading 2-8 to 0-3.

After the restart Smith slotted over to put his side further ahead but this effort was cancelled out at the other end by Patrick Reilly.

The men in black and red then fired over four unanswered points by the 49th minute before St Brides responded with four unanswered points of their own.

In the dying seconds both sides exchanged points to leave the hosts on the wrong side of a 2-14 to 0-9 scoreline as Dreadnots secured home semi-final against Naomh Mairtin.
